Oma podi
Ingredients:
- Gram flour (besan) - 1 cup
- Rice flour - 1/4 cup
- Hot oil - 2 tbsp
- Carom seeds (omam) - 1/2 tbsp
- Salt as required
- Oil for frying
- Method:
- In a blender, add 1/4 cup water, carom seeds and salt, grind it into a smooth paste(watery consistency).
- In a bowl, add gram flour, rice flour, and hot oil. Strain the ground paste and this carom water to the other ingredients.
- Knead the above ingredients into pliable dough, add water little by little while kneading.
- Take the oma podi maker(this one has tiny holes) and add small ball of dough to it.
- Heat oil for frying(medium flame), press the oma podi maker in a circular motion.
- Fry until the oma podi becomes yellowish red, dry this in the tissue paper.
- This can be stored in airtight container for days.
